Becky Gwynn
Becky Gwynn, Deputy Director, Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources, Becky has worked at the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources since 1988. During her tenure at the agency, Becky has had extensive experience in land conservation. She has been directly involved in the acquisition of more than 20,000 acres that have been included in the DWR’s Wildlife Management Area system and that provide a diversity of habitats for at-risk to common species, as well as extensive opportunities for public access. Becky is leading the DWR’s development of a statewide land acquisition strategy that will define and refine the agency’s priorities for land conservation, integrating biodiversity and public access needs across the Commonwealth. She has led the DWR’s inclusion of relevant information into the ConserveVirginia land conservation prioritization tools and serves on inter-agency review teams for land conservation grant programs. Becky represents the DWR on the Virginia Eastern Shore Conservation Alliance partnership and the Virginia Coastal Policy Team, both of which have strong land conservation priorities. She also chairs the Atlantic Coast Joint Venture Management Board, guiding the development of regional landscape-scale conservation, prioritizing key representative species and habitats, with emphasis on coastal marshes and wetlands.
