Heather Barrar
Heather is trained as a forester and arborist and has spent most of her career as a planner making connections across all sectors to address community concerns and improve the quality of life for all. She works in a regional role with the Friends of the Lower Appomattox River to address active transportation, land conservation, economic development, environmental stewardship, and climate change by building the Appomattox River Trail and park system. Heather has a BS in Forestry and Recreation Management from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Masters in Environmental Planning and Policy from Virginia Commonwealth University. She serves on the board of the Capital Region Land Conservancy, Richmond’s local land trust.
