Conservation lunch featured local chef Cathal Armstrong
Northern Virginia Conservation Trust hosted a wonderful program on March 30 to Delight the Palate and Nourish the Land, making the connection between the food we adore and the land we love. The featured speaker was Cathal Armstrong, chef of Restaurant Eve in Alexandria.Virginia Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry, Basil Gooden also offered remarks.
Clean water, fresh air, locally grown food, and conserving our natural and healthy environment not only contributes to the community and to personal health and well-being, but to the economic health of our region.
Chef Armstrong is a leader in local farm-to-table efforts. Restaurant Eve purchases from farms that share his values of quality and sustainability, and showcases the best hand-fed, farm-raised, and organically grown bounty that Virginia and the surrounding countryside have to offer. The restaurant’s own garden provides herbs and fruits. Everything on the menu has a story and every ingredient is special.
The event also recognized nine dedicated landowners who have ensured that their land–including those with working land that sustain us–is preserved for generations to come.
