Shoreline view from pedestrian bridge along US1 exit ramp
Bring a canoe or kayak to help clean up the Hunting Creek tidal wetlands and shoreline in Alexandria on Saturday, Sept. 23, 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
The site is located just upstream from the Old Stone Bridge off the George Washington Parkway. Contact Rentz Hilyer at rhilyer@nvct.org, 703-354-5093, for meeting and launch details, or to reserve from a limited number of boats that may be supplied by NVCT.
The cleanup is co-sponsored by the Northern Virginia Conservation Trust and Friends of Dyke Marsh as part of Virginia Public Lands Day.
The wetlands property is a recent land donation to the Northern Virginia Conservation Trust, and the clean-up activity will be from the water only with high tide at 11 a.m. The work will be visible from the pedestrian bridge along the Richmond Highway exit ramp to I-495.
