Kites and Critters 2018
Once again, Kites and Critters was a great day on the farm on Bells Lane. Children and sheep alike enjoyed a day outside with opportunities to learn and explore. Activities like the farm petting zoo and trout release into Poague’s Run allowed families to experience a farm in a way that has become uncommon for many.
The weather was a blessing! A beautiful day with lots of cloud cover provided perfect weather for kite flying. It was great to see many families bring their own kites in anticipation of the fun to be had and seeing them flying over the farm was a beautiful sight to see.
Kites and Critters also gives us a chance each year to highlight some of the awesome things that are happening in our area. Many local conservation groups cheerfully came out to help make this event happen. And we saw the value that area parents place on outdoor education and experiences for their children. It was so obvious that families in the Valley truly understand the value of time spent outside, and that is a beautiful thing!
Staunton Earth Day
The same weekend, VCC participated in Staunton’s yearly Earth Day festivities. This event was great fun, also filled with local groups and families coming together for outdoor education.
