NVCT welcomes two new staff members
NVCT has two new staff members: Alyssa Hemler, Administrative Coordinator, and Emily Bowman, Outreach and Stewardship Associate.
Alyssa graduated from Oberlin College with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies. Before coming to NVCT she worked in the Adventure and Outdoors division of Howard County Recreation and Parks in Maryland. With HCRP, Alyssa planned and led camps and programs in rock climbing, kayaking, hiking, archery, camping, and biking. She grew up in Columbia, Maryland and now lives in Fairfax County.
Emily Bowman grew up in Front Royal, Virginia, where she learned about stewardship and love for the land at a young age. She comes to NVCT with a degree in sustainable food systems from George Mason University, and excitement for a career where she can promote environmental protection at a community level. She also brings experience in communications and working with the public, and her passions include outdoor photography and discovering nature’s hidden beauties.
