Peggy Stevens retires
Board of Directors’ letter of thanks
Sept. 5, 2017
On behalf of the Northern Virginia Conservation Trust Board of Directors, I want to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to Peggy for all she has done for our organization. As Executive Director for the past four years, she has performed exceptionally well and has set the highest standards in every aspect of her leadership and administration. Her enthusiasm and passion for saving nearby nature have made working with her exciting and purposeful.
As Peggy departs for retirement, it seems fitting to recap some of her many accomplishments at NVCT.
- Served as a respected and influential voice in the conservation dialogue on both the region and statewide level.
- Managed expansion of conserved land in NVCT’s inventory by nearly 50%, with 1,143 acres in conservation easements and NVCT-owned parcels added in four years.
- Established an exemplary office organization and administrative procedures resulting in renewal of national accreditation.
- Recruited, trained, and mentored a talented and capable staff, including her successor.
We all will miss working with Peggy but she will leave knowing that all of her efforts have created a very strong foundation for NVCT to move into its new phase of growth serving the Northern Virginia region.
The Board of Directors joins me in congratulating Peggy on a very successful tenure as our Executive Director and we wish her continued success in all of her future endeavors. Her commitment and leadership have enhanced all the NVCT Board, the staff and the community.
