Ensuring Your Conservation Efforts Live On: Legacy Planning for Farm and Forest Owners
This session is a train the trainer program, intended to introduce conservation professionals to the latest Virginia specific research on estate and succession planning. Attendees should leave empowered with simple concepts and new materials to help their clients keep their land intact, in forest, and in the family. Presenters will share experiences and a new publication, LEGACY PLANNING: A Guide for Virginia Landowners, from the award-winning Generation NEXT program, now in its 13th year.
Virginia Farm Link Program
Established in the Code of Virginia, the Virginia Farm Link program is designed to assist both landowners who want their land to stay in production and farmers who are in search of land and other farming opportunities. This session will provide a program overview, as well as an update of the changes that have occurred prior to the program’s upcoming relaunch. Feedback from participants is encouraged, and opportunities for engagement and potential partnerships will be discussed.
