New Board Member Spotlight: Courtney Sisson

Courtney Sisson has joined the Northern Neck Land Conservancy Board of Directors as a representative from Richmond County. After spending many years summering with her family in the Coles Point area, Sisson moved to Richmond County permanently in high school. She and her husband continue to live in Richmond County where they have a small farm consisting of open and woodland as well as marsh and wetlands on Morattico Creek where they raise pigs.

Sisson has been with Virginia Farm Bureau for the past 26 years.  She also served two terms on the Richmond County Board of Supervisors where she championed causes close to her heart focused on protecting the beautiful rural spaces we all enjoy today.

“I believe in the Land Conservancy’s mission deeply and have been interested in the organization for some time,” said Sisson. “I believe we must preserve our natural resources and protect our rural area from future development and land misuse. I relish knowing that the shoreline across the River from Tappahannock will remain undeveloped and view this as a successful example of land conservation.”
