Leveraging Funding through LEED and Living Building Challenge Projects

LEED 4.1 Certification offers 1-2 points for projects that make a financial contribution to an accredited land trust working in the region of the project. The rate is a set $0.20 per square foot of the project site. Living Building Challenge requires an offset of acreage be acquired through an accredited land trust within 100 miles and the same EPA-3 region of a project. In either case, qualifying land trusts can partner with the development community on sustainability projects that take into account the myriad of impacts from climate change.
